COLLEGE BASKETBALL RECRUITING TIPS

A classic game most of us grew up playing in our driveways is basketball. A team sport in which two groups of 5 face off on a rectangular court. The main objective of the game is to shoot a basketball into the defenders hoop. The hoop will have a backboard that can be used to guide the basketball in. A field goal is worth two points, unless you shoot the ball from behind the three point line that is drawn out on the court. With penalties for fouls using free throws worth a point a shot. The team with the most points at the end of the game is declared the winner. This is a game most of us have played at some point in our lives. This being the case it has created an extremely competitive college basketball recruiting scene. Below we’ll highlight some great tips to help you be prepared to find the right place for you.

How coaches will contact athletes

There really is no restrictions on how a coach will contact a possible recruit. The only time there may be a restriction is when the parent and student make it public that you would not like to be contacted by a certain form. Most cases they’ll accept all forms of contact. They just want to be contacted to get things started for the athlete. You’ll have to keep an eye out for any messages from them via email, text, phone call, and even on social media. Coaches are usually extremely busy so make sure to respond when they contact you right away. College basketball recruiting is extremely competitive, a coach can be quick to move on if they get no response.

Think ahead when starting high school

When coaches are out doing some college basketball recruiting, they have more than just the sport in mind. The recruiting leads to a school so this means academics is also in mind. Good grades from the start of your high school years all the way to the end will go a long way. A lot of students tend to either do better near the end or do better at the start. Being consistent on their grades is very key. Keep this in mind and the athlete will have a lot of success in this competitive scene of college basketball recruiting.

Dealing with your videos

A big mistake many make when dealing with the world of college basketball recruiting, is sending videos to be unnoticed. Coaches are extremely busy and are responding to a certain amount of contacts at once. This means its best to wait until your already in a dialog with the coach to send them video files. This makes sure they see it and your not just wasting your time.
