COLLEGE SOFTBALL RECRUITING TIPS

Baseball actually has a few sub-genres of the sport. One of those is Softball. It’s played very similar to baseball, only with this one you’ll be using bigger and softer baseballs. The fields are also typically smaller, resulting in a much faster pace game. That’s due to the size of the field giving less space to get through to move the ball for he opposing team. It may not be as popular as baseball but it’s still enjoyed by a lot of people. So be prepared for a very competitive college softball recruiting scene. There’s a few things you can keep in mind during this process that can help make things run a little smoother. We’ll go over a few of those tips in this article.

LET THE ATHLETE SPEAK WITH COACHES

What tends to happen in a lot of cases is the parents take over the conversation. It’s best to step back a bit and let the athlete talk wit the coach. They want to see that the athlete is independent and able to speak for himself. As the parents won't be standing next to them at school. The coaches are more interested on who you really are. So let the athlete/student answer the questions and have a conversation. This is a very key thing to remember during your college softball recruiting process.

STAY OUT OF TROUBLE

In order to stay on a school team, or even keep a scholarship, you'll have rules to deal with. One obvious thing is to stay out of trouble, they don’t want to recruit someone who's going to become a problem for the team or the school. Everything you do off the field is just as important as what you do on the field. Keep a clean record and you won't have problems in your college softball recruiting process.

TALK TO YOUR HIGH SCHOOL COACH

In most cases your high school coach may actually know a lot of the recruiting coaches in the area. You never really know until you ask. So make sure you’re on good terms with your coach at all times so that they may be able to put in a good word for you. This can go a long way during your college softball recruiting process. You never know who they might know.

QUICK RESPONSES

When you receive a response from a coach, do not put off responding for later. Make sure you do it right away. Waiting to long can give the impression that you’re not interested in the school he's representing. Have all offers in consideration. Ask questions. All of this will help you have major success in the college softball recruiting process. Like we said before it’s a very competitive scene so don’t sit back and let it pass you by.  A missed opportunity can become an opportunity for someone else.
